LOCATIONS

We have two locations!

Monterey is at the south end of Monterey Bay, and Moss Landing is at the middle where the deep underwater canyon begins. We move our operation seasonally to take advantage of the unique attributes of each harbor. Private charters leave from the seasonal harbor except by special arrangement.

Monterey Harbor in Winter (January – April)
Tour: Monterey Ocean Safari

Monterey is a natural all-weather port that offers easy access to the rugged scenic coastline of the Monterey Peninsula, Carmel Bay, Point Lobos, and Big Sur. Our cozy office and accessible dock are located in quiet Breakwater Cove Marina with ample paid parking and private restrooms. It’s a short walk to the view sea lions on the Coast Guard Pier, or to famous Cannery Row and the Aquarium, or along the waterfront to Fisherman’s Wharf where the large whale-watching boats board. There are sea otters and sea lions inside the harbor, and the “Gray Whale Highway” passes right by the picturesque Point Pinos Lighthouse. Good food awaits at both a deli and a fine restaurant in our building, along with kayak and bicycle rentals.

Moss Landing in Spring, Summer, and Fall (May – December)
Tour: Moss Landing Whale Watching Safari

We love seeing three marine mammals before we even leave the dock: a whole raft of sea otters, a harbor seal resting beach, and barking sea lions on the jetties are all watchable from our boat ramp. Deep water begins right outside the harbor and we often find humpback whales very close to shore. Our North Harbor location is the jumping-off point for kayak and small boat tours of beautiful the Elkhorn Slough inland waterway. The  ample paid parking lot has public restrooms, two excellent kayak outfitters, and a casual restaurant with a deck overlooking the water. It’s a short car drive to Jetty Road for wildlife viewing and beach walking, and to the village of Moss Landing with several excellent restaurants, cute shops, larger whale watching vessels, and an interesting harbor with fishing boats, ocean research vessels, and a working boatyard.
